Duration of course:

The course of academic training is of 2 years duration with minimum of 180 working days per year followed by a practical training not less than 500 hours covered in around 3 months.

. M.Phil. in Commerce:

SUBMISSION OF THESIS

 

Original certificates submitted at the time of admission are not returnable till the completion of the course. Candidates are advised to have with them sufficient attested copies of the certificates.

8. M.PHIL. (CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY) The course is open to those who have passed M.A. Degree Examination in Psychology of the Annamalai University or any other University approved by the Annamalai University securing not less than 55% marks in the aggregate of the Master’s Degree Course as a whole. Preference will be given to candidates who have studied a paper on Clinical Psychology, Psychopathology, Abnormal Psychology at M.A. level.

Duration: (a) The course extends to two academic years starting from July. The leave rules are governed by Annamalai University regulations. (b) Vacation: The candidates are eligible to utilise leave not exceeding one month in a year. This is to be taken in not more than two blocks in a year either of which can be of less than 10 days duration. a. EXAMINATION a. The examination will be held in two parts viz., Part I held at the end of First year and Part II held at the end of Second year. The student will not be allowed to take the Part II examination unless he/she has passed the Part I examination.

b. The regular examination for Part I and II held in May every year. Supplementary examination will be held for Part I & II in the month of September/May.

c. A candidate who fails in Part I of the regular examination will be allowed to continue the course for the Second year and take the supplementary examination to be held in the month of September/ May.

d. A minimum period of three months additional attendance shall be necessary for a candidate before appearing for the examination in case he fails to clear Part I and or Part II within a period of 3 years from the date of admission to the programme. b.

SUBMISSION

a. Two months before the Part I examination (End of February) every candidate should submit 5 Psycho-diagnostic reports.

b. Three months before the Part II examination (End of June) every candidate should submit 5 Therapeutic case records.

c. Three copies of the dissertation which are typed and bound should be submitted by the II year students two months before the Part II examination (End of February).

d. Before appearing for Part I of the examination the candidate should attain competence in the case-test prescribed and a certificate from the Head of the Department on the recommendation of the Guide that the candidate has satisfactorily undergone prescribed practical tests should accompany the application for Part I of the examination.

e. The application for appearing at the Part I and II of the examination should be accompanied by a certificate issued by the Head of the department on the recommendation of the Guide that the candidate has undergone the course of study and has carried out the clinical work and research assignment prescribed.

Application form and prospectus can be obtained from the Registrar, Annamalai University Annamalainagar -608002 From 30/06/2008 onwards on payment of prescribed fee noted above in person (OR) by sending a Demand Draft obtained on or after 30/06/2008 drawn in favour of The Registrar, Annamalai University,Annamalainagar from Any Bank payable at Chennai along with a self addresse stamped thick kraft envelope of size 30cm* 24cm with the name of the programme for which the appication is required should be superscribed boldly on the envelope. The Name of the Programme should be clearly indicated in the requisition letter. The Name and Address oof the Candidate and Programme for which application is made should be clearly indicated on the back side of Demand Draft also.

IMPORTANT NOTE
A candidate will not be permitted to appear for the written examination on more than two occasions and will not be permitted to submit a thesis for the degree on more than two occasions.
If a candidate failed in theory papers on more than two occasions he or she is not entitled to submit their dissertation. The candidate has to rejoin the course as a fresh student.
The teachers of the University admitted to the Part-time M.Phil. Programme shall submit their thesis at the end of Second Year but not later than three years from the date of commencement of classes.
Those who have been admitted to the M.Phil. Full-time programme shall submit their thesis at the end of the first year but not later than the second year from the date of commencement of classes.

A pass in Master's degree (M.Com) in Commerce/Accounting & Finance/International Banking/Financial Services/Business Studies/Cooperative Management and International Business/M.Com 5 year Integrated Programme/M.A. cooperation/M.A. Corporate Secretaryship/Master of Bank Management/Master of Business Studies/Master of Financial Studies/Master of Financial Management and Master of Financial Control with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
ii. M.Phil. in Applied Chemistry (Faculty of Engg. & Tech.):
A pass in M.Sc. Chemistry/ Applied Chemistry/ Industrial Chemistry examination with a minimum of Second Class securing at least 55% of aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
iii. M.Phil. in Linguistics:
The candidate with M.A. Degree in any language with a minimum of Second Class securing at least 55% of aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto can be admitted in the M.Phil. Programme in Linguistics and he/she has to complete the certificate course in Linguistics conducted by the CAS in Linguistics before submitting the M.Phil. Dissertation.
iv. M.Phil. in Population Studies:
"The candidate should have secured 55% of marks in Population Studies and other disciplinary courses viz. Sociology, Economics, Commerce, Management, Psychology, Geography, Statistics, Social Work, Rural Development, Anthropology, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Education and Adult Education."
v. M.Phil. in Herbal Science:
A pass in Master's Degree in Herbal Science/Botany/Pharmacy/Agriculture/ Chemistry/Biochemistry with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
vi. M.Phil. in Microbiology:
A pass in Master's Degree in Microbiology/Applied Microbiology/Industrial Microbiology with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
vii. M.Phil. in Environmental Biotechnology:

A pass in Master's Degree in Environmental Biotechnology with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
viii. M.Phil. in Marine Biotechnology:
A pass in Master's Degree in Marine Biotechnology/Biotechnology/Animal Science & Biotechnology/ Plant Science &Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Human Genetics/Applied Genetics/Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Industrial Microbiology/ Agricultural Microbiology/Pharmacology with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
ix. M.Phil. in Marine Microbiology:
A pass in Master's Degree in Marine Microbiology/Microbiology/Industrial Microbiology/Agricultural Microbiology/Biotechnology/Botany/Zoology with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
x. M.Phil. in Marine Food Technology:
A pass in Master's Degree in Botany/Zoology/Aquaculture/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/Microbiology/Fishery Science with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
xi. M.Phil. in Marine Biology & Oceanography:
A pass in Master's Degree in Marine Biology & Oceanography/Plant Science/Animal Science/Biochemistry/Aquatic Biology & Fisheries/Fisheries Science/Marine Sciences/Environmental Science & Oceanography/Coastal Area Studies with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto
xii. M.Phil. in Coastal Aquaculture:
A pass in Master's Degree in Coastal Aquaculture/Botany/Zoology/ Biochemistry/Industrial Fish & Fisheries/Fisheries Science/Mari Culture/Aquatic Biology & Fisheries/Marine Sciences/Environmental Science with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
xiii. M.Phil. in Applied Geology:

xiv. M.Phil. in Geoinformatics:

xv. M.Phil. in Biotechnology:
A pass in Mater's Degree in Biotechnolgy/Biochemistry with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
xvi. M.Phil. in Music:
A pass in Master's Degree in M.A. Music/M.Music/M.F.A. Music/Master of Performing Arts in Classical Music with a minimum of Second class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks or in an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
xvii. Eligibility for Teachers:
Teachers of this University who have put in three years of service shall, however, be eligible to register for the M.Phil. (Part-time) degree irrespective of the class obtained by them. Such applicants should send completed applications to the Registrar through proper channel. 3. METHOD OF SELECTION Candidates have to appear for an entrance examination in the respective subjects to be conducted by the respective departments and thereafter an interview. The date, venue, and time of the entrance examination and interview will be notified to the applicants separately as soon as it is fixed. 4. THE APPLICATION SHALL CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING PARTICULARS i.
